CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS AT ST. COLUMBA'S
Little Ones - 0-4 years old
Our Childcare room is connected to our worship space by large windows, so children under the age of 5 and their parents can enjoy the hospitality of the space while also remaining connected to worship. We have nursery staff present on Sunday mornings and at other major events in our community's life who love to spend time with our kids! Children are also always welcome in liturgy - we are a community that delights in the presence of children!
Godly Play (Age 4 through Grade 5)
Beginning at 10AM on Sunday Mornings, children from age 4 through Grade 5 are invited to "wonder" in Godly Play. Godly Play is a Montessori based approach to forming our children in the Christian Faith. Each child is individually welcomed into the Godly Play classroom, and invited to join the circle of children sitting on the floor. An adult storyteller leads the children in a story from the Bible or our faith tradition. At the end of the story, the children are invited to "wonder" about the story.
Finally, the children are invited to continue their own praise and exploration of who God is through either reading, working with arts and crafts, learning another story, or simply resting.
Register your family for Godly Play by completing a brief Family Survey and Registration form and bringing them with you on Sunday.
#NoFilter - 6th-8th grade Sunday School
Our 6th - 8th graders meet on Sunday mornings at 10am in the room behind Erskine Hall. This group spends their time reading the day's biblical text and talking about it with their teachers and each other, and then doing a related activity. This is a great chance for older kids to interact with scripture, make friends, and get creative with craft projects, before joining parents and others in the sanctuary for Holy Communion.
